Botanical info:
Lesser celandine is a tuberous rooted, herbaceous perennial that grows 10 to 20 cm tall, and features spreading rosettes of glossy, fleshy, dark green leaves. It grows mainly in wet shady habitats. It is native of Europe expanding north to the Urals and south to northern Africa. Flowering from March to May.

Other uses:
Astringent. This herb is an old remedy for piles and is considered almost a specific. It is also used externally as an ointment, made from the bruised herb with fresh lard, applied locally night and morning, or in the form of poultices, fomentations, or in suppositories. A most excellent ointment has been recommended for external abscesses.
